One person was confirmed dead and several others were injured on Monday September 2, 2024 in the evening after gunmen believed to be from the Shifta faction ambushed a bus along the Moyale-Nairobi highway.
The attack happened at the Bori junction along the Moyale-Sololo stretch in Marsabit County after the group of terrorists stopped the 60-seater bus along the stretch.
Reports suggest that the terrorists opened fire leaving several passengers critically injured. Following the incident ,4 people were critically injured and were rushed to Sololo Mission Hospital, but unfortunately one died from the injuries.
Police rushed to the scene hardly an hour after the incident before commencing a probe into the matter.
According to the police report, the attackers escaped from the scene immediately after the attack.
A similar incident happened, in June last year by the Al-shabab militants where they attacked a bus along the Wajir-Mandera Highway.
The terrorists shot in the air forcing the driver to stop and ordered all the passengers out of the vehicle. 55 passengers were able to escape unharmed.
The survivors explained to the journalists that the attack was staged at the Bore area, 6Km from Tarbaj Trading Centre.
