In Uganda’s Ntungamo District, law enforcement has apprehended a 110-year-old man, Dominic Babiiha.
He was arrested for stabbing his 109-year-old wife, Costansio Bakasisa.
The incident occurred at their home in Kahunga, Ntungamo District.
According to regional police spokesperson Samson Kasasira, Babiiha allegedly used a billhook to commit the crime.

The police account details that on December 14 around 8 pm, Bakasisa declined her husband’s request for intimacy, citing weakness and a cough.
Consequently, they retired to separate rooms, with the deceased choosing to stay with her two great-grandchildren.
The following morning, the suspect, Babiiha, raised an alarm, expressing that he “couldn’t die alone.”
This prompted one of the granddaughters to investigate the situation.

Upon opening the door, the granddaughter encountered Dominic armed with a billhook, who then ordered her to leave.
Subsequently, he began stabbing the deceased multiple times, prompting the other great-granddaughter to seek help from neighbours.
Unfortunately, Bakasisa was found deceased, while Dominic had locked himself in a room, where he was discovered unconscious with an agrochemical bottle nearby.
Preliminary police investigations revealed that despite residing in the same house, the couple slept in separate rooms.
The violent act leading to the woman’s death was reportedly triggered by the denial of Babiiha’s conjugal rights.
Domestic violence on the rise
As investigations continue, the police annual crime report for 2022 indicates a decrease in cases of murder resulting from domestic violence compared to the previous year.
However, only a fraction of the reported cases made it to court, emphasizing the need for non-violent resolution methods.
Kasasira, the police spokesperson, strongly condemned all forms of violence.
Urging the public to seek peaceful means to address misunderstandings and seek assistance from relevant authorities.
