13-year-old boy electrocuted to death in Kawangware

A 13-year-old boy lost his life after being electrocuted while connecting power to their house in Kawangware, Nairobi.

The incident occurred on Sunday January 28, 2024 afternoon when the boy touched a live naked wire while wiring their house.

According to the police report, the deceased had visible burns on the right chest side and another on the left hand’s finger.

Kenya Power officials and police, who are still probing the incident, stated that such electrocution cases are caused by illegal power connections carried out by quacks.

Kenya Power officials, however, warned residents to be vigilant and report any cases of illegal power connections, as they endanger the occupants of the houses.

The deceased’s body was taken to the mortuary as the investigation proceeds.

This is not the first time such incidents have been reported.

In December 13th, 2023, a 3-year-old boy lost his life after being electrocuted while playing on their family’s balcony in Kayole.

The boy’s aunt informed the police that she had left the child playing on the balcony when the neighbors’ children alerted her with screams that the boy had fallen off the balcony.

According to witnesses, the three-year-old was electrocuted by live wires near their house on Tuesday evening.

Man killed at a construction site

In a separate incident in Karen, Nairobi, police are searching for two men involved in the killing of their colleague at a construction site.

47-year-old Sikeva Kamau was killed by the two on Sunday evening after a disagreement.

According to the police report, the victim suffered bruises on hands and legs, a deep head cut wound, and bleeding from the nose.

Police further stated that bloodstains were found on the house walls and clothes.

The motive behind the fight remains unclear as an investigation is being conducted.
