Lang’ata’s famed nightclub, 1824, has been shut down unsettling revellers who love the spot.
Recent online videos and photos depict unidentified individuals hauling away furniture and materials from the club.
All while uniformed police observed the scene.
The shutdown followed a court order freezing assets linked to Wilson Nahashon Kanani, the club’s proprietor, issued four months ago.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) revealed that Kanani, a City Hall staffer, possessed assets totalling Ksh. 643 million on a modest Ksh. 55,000 monthly salary.
Lady Justice Esther Maina granted EACC permission in 2022 to investigate.
Allegations that Kanani, through his office, amassed wealth by accepting bribes and kickbacks, including two high-end vehicles.
Despite earning a net monthly salary of Ksh. 55,000, court documents disclose that between January 2016 and October 2022, he channelled Ksh. 506 million through bank accounts under his name and family members.
Following a directive to close all bars in residential areas, sparking online gossip.

The club had previously shuttered in 2020 for violating Covid-19 regulations.
A stalwart in Nairobi’s nightlife, 1824, situated in Lang’ata, transcends its locale, drawing patrons from every corner of the city with its renowned entertainment offerings.
Despite its closure, the club leaves an indelible mark as one of Nairobi’s oldest and most celebrated nightlife icons.
