Residents of Kaptagat in Keiyo South, Elgeyo Marakwet County on Tuesday December 17, 2024 held protests, demanding justice after 2 police officers at Kaptagat police station allegedly slaughtered a cow belonging to a widow in the area.

This was after the residents found meat of the slaughtered cow at the police station.

According to the residents, the cow was one of the three cows belonging to Josphina Chesundo, a widow in the area.

Speaking to TV47, the locals explained that the cows got lost while grazing in the Kaptagat forest.

The residents stated that they had gone to report the incident of missing livestock at the police station when they found the two officers red-handed while slaughtering the cow.

“Two police officers have been locked up in the cells, but two civilians who were involved escaped. We are still investigating the matter, as the manhunt for the two suspects who escaped continues,” said Gitonga.

Meanwhile, the residents continued with the protests, blocking the Eldoret-Ravine road as police intervened to restore normalcy.
