Clare Adindo Odhiambo, a 20-year-old lady whose photos were circulated on social media as a missing person following her ‘abduction’ has presented herself at DCI offices in Kibra, Nairobi County.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Claire set the record straight that despite her photos being used in the viral posts on Tik Tok, her name wasn’t Naomi, as alleged by the author of the post.
Adindo, DCI says, dismissed the reports that she had been abducted as false.
“The DCI wishes to clarify further that abduction and/or kidnapping is a serious crime punishable by law and the DCI does not condone any form of abductions or kidnappings as these actions violate fundamental human rights and undermine the rule of law,” the DCI says.
The social media post had claimed that Adindo was among social media influencers who had been abducted in recent incidences. According to the ‘false’ post, she had been abducted in Ruaka, Kiambu County. Netizens had demanded for her release under #FreeNaomi.
The DCI insists that it is dedicated to investigating all allegations of such crimes thoroughly and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.
“It is essential for the community to work together in reporting any suspicious activities to aid in the fight against crime and protect the rights of all citizens,” the DCI urges Kenyans.
