Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has announced the Form One placement results for the 2023 KCPE candidates, indicating that the reporting date will be January 15, 2024.
While announcing the form one placement results, the CS said that all 1.4 million candidates who sat for the final 8-4-4 primary school exams have been placed in different secondary schools across the country.

Machogu said that the whole process had some challenges since 28,052 candidates, majority from Wanjohi and Kopsiro in Nyandarua and Bungoma Counties did not choose preferred schools.
Out of the 1,400,329 candidates who sat for the KCPE exams in November this year, 42,927 are set to join national schools, 274,746 extra-county schools, 288,201 County schools, and 792,230 sub-county schools while 2,225 candidates will secure placements in special needs institutions.

The top five most selected schools by the KCPE candidates included Kabianga High School (186,357) with capacity limited to 672, Nanyuki High (158,741) against an available space of 480, Pangani Girls (144,542) with only 384 spaces, Kapsabet Boys (143,723) which has only 432 spaces and Alliance Girls (135,033) which only needs 384 students.
Other schools like Maseno School, Nakuru High, Butere Girls, Mang’u High and Alliance High were also selected.
How to check form one placement results
To get the placement results, parents, guardians and candidates are advised to visit the Ministry’s official website www.education.go.ke or www.kemis.education.go.ke to download their joining instructions.

CS Machogu stated that after downloading the joining instructions, candidates are required to present the letter to the head teacher of the primary school where they took their KCPE Examination for authentication.
He urged the principals to ensure that the letters presented to them belongs to students strictly listed on their selection list.
Machogu added that both primary and secondary schools can access their selection lists through the NEMIS platform.
