Harambee Starlets head coach Beldine Odemba has unveiled a 36-player provisional squad for the upcoming two-legged 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers against Tunisia.
The team’s campaign will kick off with the first leg in Kenya on Friday, February 21, 2025, before they travel to Tunis for the return fixture on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
Odemba has made notable inclusions, introducing eleven new faces to strengthen key areas ahead of these crucial encounters.
Among the new goalkeeping options are Vivian Shiyonzo (Kibera Girls Soccer) and Lavender Abongo (KISPED Queens).
The defensive lineup sees the addition of Benedete Atieno (KISPED Queens), Alice Mideri (Vihiga Queens), and Tabitha Amoit (Ulinzi Starlets), all earning their first senior call-ups after previously featuring in the U20 setup. They join experienced defenders Mary Nthambi (Kenya Police Bullets) and Janet Mumo (Kibera Girls Soccer).
In midfield, Yvonne Idagiza (Kibera Girls Soccer) has been rewarded with a spot in the squad.
The attacking department is bolstered by Faith Mboya (Kibera Girls Soccer), a prolific forward currently leading the FKF WNSL scoring charts. Since joining Kibera Girls Soccer, she has made an immediate impact, netting a hat-trick on her debut. She will be joined in attack by Catherine Khaemba (Bungoma Queens) and Emily Moranga (Kenya Police Bullets).
Additionally, Leila Apiyo and Martha Amunyolet make their return to the national team after an extended absence.
Another notable inclusion is Elizabeth Ochaka, the Junior Starlets captain who played a crucial role in Kenya’s historic 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup campaign. This marks her second senior team call-up.
The current FKF Women Premier League leading scorers—Catherine Khaemba (Bungoma Queens), Rebecca Okwaro (Kenya Police Bullets), and Beverline Adika (Zetech Sparks)—have also made it to the squad.
The team is set to report to camp on Monday, February 10, 2025, to commence preparations for these vital qualifiers.
