Four of the critically injured were later transferred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu for specialized medical care.
Following the tragedy, authorities have urged drivers to be extra cautious, especially on accident-prone roads. While investigations into the cause of the crash are still ongoing, initial reports suggest that speeding or reckless overtaking may have played a role.
This accident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety in Kenya, where frequent crashes continue to claim lives.
Meanwhile, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has emphasized the need for stricter traffic enforcement to reduce such tragedies.
