The partnership between the Ministry of Labour and Private Recruitment Agencies seeking employment opportunities for Kenyan youth in the diaspora has officially commenced.
This is after 46 graduated from the National Youth Service(NYS) left over the weekend for Saudi Arabia where they have obtained jobs.
This represents the first cohort of 273 graduates from the institution who are scheduled to depart for the same destination for employment this month.
Shadrack Mwadime, the Labor and Skills Development Principal Secretary presided over the departure ceremony of the graduates, which was attended by acting NYS Director General Ndambiri Nyagah and their relatives.
Mwadime emphasized that the country would now prioritize the National Youth Service (NYS) to supply labour for export, citing its exceptional quality of training.
“We want to establish Kenya as an international brand and source of highly disciplined labor for export by tapping graduates from NYS,” he said.

The 46 will assume jobs such as caregivers, administrative assistants and roles within the hospitality industry in Saudi Arabia.
This is as indicated by Virginia Murigu, the CEO of Satma Agencies, the company responsible for connecting the graduates with jobs in Saudi Arabia.
Mwadime emphasized that Kenya is well positioned to provide labor to regions such as the Middle East, Europe, and other destinations experiencing shortages in their labor markets.

However, he urged the migrants to seize the opportunity to acquire new technologies and bring them back home upon their return.
The PS also disclosed that the State Department was collaborating with the Investment Authority of Kenya to establish a legal framework aimed at protecting money from migrant workers.
“The remittances you will send back to the country is an important investment and source of revenue that will play a critical role in the economic development of the country and should therefore be safeguarded” he said.
