Police in Mwingi, Kitui County are investigating the murder of a 48-year-old woman, Margaret Kavisa John, whose body was found with her head missing on Monday March 4, 2024 morning.

Her body was discovered along the road at Mbagwani village in Kakongo sub-location, Kairungu location of Mwingi Central.

Confirming the incident, Eastern Regional Commander Joseph Ole Napeiyan said that the matter was reported to Mwingi police station around 2:03 am.

The area administrator alerted the police about a person believed to have been attacked and killed in Mbagwani village, Kitui County.

Officers who arrived at the scene found the woman’s body with multiple wounds and cuts, believed to have been inflicted with a machete.

The police report indicated that a traveling bag containing clothes and a KRA PIN form was recovered at the scene.

The body was transferred to Mwingi Level 4 Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.
