Forty-nine percent (49%) of Kenyans say the country is peaceful, this is according to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Interior.
From the survey, 33% of Kenyans felt that the country was not peaceful, with 17% not sure whether Kenya was peaceful or not.
The Ministry sought insights from Kenyans on their perspectives on peace and the most effective ways to rejuvenate the institutions, processes, and mechanisms for peacebuilding from the grassroots level in villages all the way to the national level.
When asked about whether priority should be given to securitized responses to conflict or civilian peacebuilding initiatives, 65% of Kenyans favored peacebuilding initiatives.
This preference was especially strong in the borderland regions of North Eastern while, in regions such as Western and Nairobi, approximately two-thirds of Kenyans expressed a preference for securitized responses.
