Five people have been confirmed dead while 18 others seriously injured when a PSV matatu they were travelling in was involved in an accident along Olonguruone-Silibwet Road, Bomet County.
The accident, which happened at Mugango area, involved the Toyota Hiace matatu (Reg No. KCK 758R) and a Massey Ferguson tractor (Reg No. KUB 805).
A police report filed at Silibwet Police Station says that the driver of the matatu was driving from Olenguruone heading towards Bomet general direction.
“…and on reaching at location of the accident the driver of the matatu failed to keep to his proper lane and rammed on the tractor,” the report says.
The injured persons have been admitted at Tenwek Mission Hospital under serious condition.
The wreckage of the matatu and the tractor have been towed to Bomet Police Station for further police action.
