52-year-old man arrested in connection to Wells Fargo HR manager’s brutal murder

A 52-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday November 12, 2024 in Kakamega County on suspicion of aiding in the disposal of the body of Wells Fargo HR manager, Willis Onyango Ayieko.

Police apprehended the suspect in Doho, Khisa West, following the discovery of Ayieko’s body in the Mungowere stream on October 23, five days after he was reported missing.

According to investigators, Ayieko was kidnapped, tortured, and killed in a violent robbery, during which he was coerced to surrender cash and other valuables.

Police believe the motive for the murder was robbery, with suspects allegedly targeting Ayieko’s possessions.

Authorities have detained Duncan Onyango, alias Otuch, who is believed to have hosted the attack in his residence.

Siaya Magistrate Benjamin Limo approved a 30-day detention for further police investigation, setting Onyango’s next court date for December 13.

Another suspect, 21-year-old bodaboda rider Charles Otieno Odhiambo, was arrested in Kisumu after police linked him to the crime.

Odhiambo reportedly admitted to transporting key suspect Victor Ouma, known as Sisco, to the scene.

Police allege that Ouma later took Ayieko’s mobile phone and used it to make multiple cash withdrawals. CCTV footage captured him wearing a blue jacket at the withdrawal locations.

Victor Ouma, who remains in custody, has been tied to the murder along with his deceased brother, Robert Wakolo Okoth.

Wakolo, who was shot by police during a recent operation, had been a suspect in a string of violent robberies, including the January 2024 fatal shooting of an Mpesa agent in Kisumu.

The case has drawn widespread public interest, with Ayieko’s burial in Siaya County attended by community leaders urging further investigation.

The investigation continues as police work to trace other potential suspects.
