Police in Sabatia Sub-County, Vihiga County, are investigating a case where a 59-year-old woman died early Saturday morning while attending a vigil service commonly known as ‘kesha’ at a church located in Kisatiru area in West Maragoli Location.
According to West Maragoli Chief Julius Liduhiza, the woman who has been identified as Phanice Jahenda, fainted early in the morning at the church known as Jesus Power, while congregants efforts to help her failed.
A private hospital attendant who was called to the scene confirmed that the woman had already died.
Police officers were notified and arrived at the scene where they have transferred the body of the deceased to the mortuary.
In addition, the chief stated that the family of the deceased confirmed that the woman was suffering from Asthma, a condition that is suspected to have caused her death.
However, police officers have launched investigations into the matter, while the body of the deceased is lying at the Itando hospital in Vihiga County. No one has been arrested.
