Six people died, and 26 others were critically injured in a road accident along the Bomet-Narok Highway.
The accident occurred on Saturday December 14, 2024 at night when a school bus belonging to Mesabisabi secondary School collided head-on with a Nissan matatu.
Reports indicate that the bus crashed into the matatu at Olonin Bridge while the bus driver was trying to execute a risky maneuver to overtake other vehicles.
While trying to overtake, the bus driver ended up crashing into the matatu, that was coming from the opposite direction.
According to media reports, the bus was carrying SDA women who were returning from a seminar.
Three passengers in the matatu died on the spot, while two women and a girl died while undergoing treatment at Ololulung’a Sub-County Hospital.
Police reported that the bus driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, prompting an immediate manhunt.
The two vehicles were taken to the Narok South Sub-County Police headquarters for inspection.
The accident occurred just a few hours after another accident in the Tegero area along the same route, where one woman was killed and three others sustained minor injuries.
Several accidents have been reported recently along the busy Narok-Bomet highway, with this latest incident happening just weeks after nine people lost their lives on the same road.
