Seven people have been killed and several others injured after a tragic accident involving multiple vehicles on the Narok-Mai Mahiu Road.
The accident occurred on Monday, December 23 around 10 am when a truck being driven from Narok towards the Mai Mahiu general direction got a tyre burst.
A report filed at Ntulele Traffic Base says the truck lost control, swerved to the other side of the road before crashing on three vehicles – a Toyota Premio, an Ena Coach bus, and a Narok-Line matatu. Three occupants of the matatu died on the spot.
But an even more tragic development would occur at the scene of the original accident seconds later.
A truck being driven from Narok towards the Mai Mahiu general direction arrived at the scene at a high speed hooting.
“[The truck] collided head on with a Toyota Prado which was travelling in the opposite direction. Two occupants of the Prado died on the spot and a third person died later at Narok County Referral Hospital,” the police report, seen by TV47 Digital, says.
The second trailer also knocked down a motorcycle and killed two pillion passengers on the spot.
“The total number of deceased currently is seven. They have been taken to Narok County Referral Hospital mortuary while the injured have been taken to the same hospital for treatment,” the report adds.
All the vehicles involved in the accident have been towed to Ntulele Police Station for inspection.
