The University Management deeply regrets the unfortunate fire incident that affected about eighty eight (88) students who stay on the second floor of the hostel,” JKUAT noted in a statement.

In addition, the university noted that the students lost personal effects and other valuables.

“Few students sustained minor injuries and have been treated in hospital and released. Only three are currently under observation in the university hospital,” read part of JKUAT official statement.

The University Management further explained that the incident was regrettable and very unfortunate.

Meanwhile, JKUAT has made necessary arrangements to provide support to the students including counseling services and alternative accommodation.
