Police in Kirinyaga County have arrested a man who allegedly killed his lover before hiding her body in a septic tank at his family’s homestead in Ngurubaini town.
Confirming the incident, Mwea East Sub-County Police Commander Mohammed Jarso says Brian Wambugu Mwangi was arrested on Friday, March 21 night while hiding in Mwariko Estate, just within Ngurubaini Town.
The 24-year-old suspect is currently being held at Wang’uru Police Station as investigations into the gruesome murder continue.
The police boss also says that two individuals who were found to be hiding the suspect at Mwariko estate have also been arrested. It is reported that the suspect was been housed by the son of the landlord.
Sources privy to the investigations have revealed that the suspect has confessed to the authorities.

The suspect says that he does not know the lady, because she was a one-day girlfriend. He says that he took the lady to his house after she quarreled with her boyfriend at a local bar.
“After we entered my house, a fight broke out between us. I was shocked to discover she had died after I hit her,” the suspect said, as reported by Citizen Digital.
Wambugu says he did not ask for the woman’s name or where she comes from.
What happened?
On Thursday, March 20, a housemaid was cleaning the toilets at the suspect’s family compound.
Upon noticing the body, she immediately informed her employer, who reported the matter to Wang’uru Police Station.
Detectives are preparing to conduct a forensic autopsy on the body to help establish the deceased’s identity. Members of the public have also been urged to help in assisting to identify the family of the deceased.
According to the suspect’s father, the son is troublesome, having dropped out of university.
“He did not complete his university studies. I have tried to take him to rehabilitation and counseling, but it has been in vain. And now, he has killed someone’s daughter and buried her in a septic tank located between my business premises and my homestead,” the father lamented to the police.
