Manchester United has confirmed that right-back Aaron Wan Bissaka sustained hamstring injury during their Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford.

Club statement has said that the 25-year-old who came on as a substitute will now miss their opening Champions League fixture on Wednesday against German Champions Bayern Munich.

“Aaron Wan-Bissaka is set for a period on the sidelines after sustaining an injury during the closing stages of Saturday’s game against Brighton & Hove Albion.

“The right-back came on as an 85th-minute substitute, having started the game on the bench after battling illness during the week.

“Further assessment will be needed to determine how long Wan-Bissaka will be out for, but initial indications suggest it will be several weeks,” club statement reads.

Bissaka’s injury adds another headache to United manager Erik Ten Hag who will also lack services of left backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, center-back Raphaël Varane and deadline-day signing Sofyan Amrabat, all out on injuries.

Additionally, the 20-time Premier League champions will still be without summer signing Mason Mount who has not featured for United since picking up an injury in last month’s loss at Tottenham.

Jadon Sancho is also out of the squad travelling to Germany after he was suspended by Ten Hag from first team training while Brazilian winger Antony is also absent as he if facing investigations on an alleged assault allegations.
