Roads and Transport cabinet secretary Davis Chirchir has divulged that airport employees will options to either be employed by Adani Airports Holding Ltd or remain Kenya Airport Authority (KAA) employees.
Speaking in a local media station, Mr Chirchir said that the government has an agreement with Adani to employ the staff who will be under them on better terms.
Mr Chirchir also explained why the Adani deal was not advertised. “For privately initiated proposals you don’t advertise, I can look for an opportunity based on where I think the government needs support and privately initiate a proposal.”
“That proposal then goes through the due process, and if the government deems it fit and it goes through the approval process in 20 stages, then it becomes a project,” he further stated.
