Adele planning to step away from music: ‘I want a big break’

Fans eagerly awaiting new music from Adele may need to wait a bit longer.

In a recent interview the Hello singer, 36, announced that she plans to take a break from making music to explore other creative endeavours.

“I don’t have any plans for new music, at all,” Adele revealed.

“I want a big break after this, and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.”

This decision reflected Adele’s desire to step back from the music scene and indulge in different forms of creativity.

She also admitted, “I don’t like being famous. I love that I get to make music all the time.”

Adele has always taken her time between albums, allowing herself to live life and gather inspiration.

Her debut album, 19, came out in 2008, followed by 21 in 2011, 25 in 2015, and her most recent album, 30, in 2021.

In 2023, Adele mentioned that she “hadn’t even thought about” new music. “I have to wait for a feeling,” she explained.

“If I get antsy, that’s when I know I have to go to the studio, and I am the opposite of antsy right now.”

Adele expressed interest in a specific movie role, although it remains an elusive dream for now.

“The guy whose movie it would be, he’s not mentally ready to write the script for it,” she said. “That’s the only role I ever want. Because I think I’d nail it. I think I’d do, really, really good at it.”

Despite her break from recording new music, Adele’s fans can still look forward to seeing her live.

Adele touring

She is set to perform a series of residency shows in Germany at the Munich Messe arena from August 2 to August 24.

I haven’t played in Europe since 2016! I couldn’t think of a more wonderful way to spend my summer and end this beautiful phase of my life and career with shows closer to home during such an exciting summer,” she captioned the post.

Following her performances in Germany, Adele will continue her residency in Las Vegas with dates stretching from October 25 to November 23.

Originally scheduled to conclude on June 15, these shows were rescheduled, giving fans another chance to experience her powerful performances live.
