Aden Duale breaks silence after President Ruto dismissed all Cabinet Secretaries

President William Ruto on Thursday July 11, 2024 dismissed all his cabinet secretaries including the office of the Attorney General.

Speaking during a press briefing at State House Nairobi, President Ruto said that all offices of cabinet secretaries become vacant with immediate effect.

However, the president noted that the offices of the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi were unaffected.

“I have today in line with the powers given to me decided to dismiss with immediate effect all the CSs and AG except the Prime CS and CS for Foreign Affairs and the office of the Deputy President is not affected in any way,” said President Ruto.

In addition the president noted that all activities in Ministries will be run by principal secretaries, who were not affected in the announced changes.

Aden Duale responds to sacking

Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has broken the silence after President Ruto took the drastic decision to dismiss the entire Cabinet.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency President William Ruto for entrusting me with the role of Cabinet Secretary for Defence in the first Kenya Kwanza Administration,” Duale said. “I am deeply honored and will forever be indebted to him and the people of Kenya for this opportunity to serve our great nation.”

Duale quoted the holy writ; “As the Quran says, ‘But they plan, and Allah plans. And Allah is the best of planners’ (Quran 8:30).”

Duale: I’m ready to vacate office

In an interview with Citizn TV last Wednesday, Duale had said that he is willing to vacate his office should President Ruto question his leadership in the Defence docket.

He was responding to questions touching on the debate of CSs’ poor performance and open display of opulence by some members of President Ruto’s cabinet.

“If the president feels I have let him down as the minister for Defence, I want him to do the right thing. He should not only start with me, but sack all the rest who have let him down, in the interest of the people of Kenya, and tell us to step aside and have a new team, “said Duale. “Anybody he feels is baggage or feels should come out of the bus he is driving, he should do it, including me.”
