Vice President of the African Boxing Confederation (AFBC), Azania Omo-Agege Siena, has been named the interim president of the body. Omo-Agege replaced the ousted president of AFBC, Bertrand Mendouga from Cameroun, who was accused of high-handedness and lack of foresight in his leadership of the body.
Mendouga was forced out of office on August 6, 2023 during AFBC’s executive council meeting in Yaoundé, Cameroun, witnessed by International Boxing Association (IBA) President, Umar Kremlev.
Participants at the meeting also learnt that the impeached AFBC president was being investigated by Camerounian government, which has appointed a normalisation committee to revive the local body.
As AFBC’s Interim President, Omo-Agege Siena, who is also the vice president of the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF), will preside over Africa’s amateur boxing pending the election of a new president.
