AFC Leopards Reschedule AGM to Accommodate Mashemeji Derby

AFC Leopards has officially rescheduled its Annual General Meeting (AGM) to March 29, 2025, following the confirmation that the much-anticipated Mashemeji Derby against Gor Mahia will take place on March 30 at Nyayo National Stadium.

The decision to adjust the AGM date comes after two postponements of the derby, which was finally confirmed for March 30 in a letter from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) dated March 21.

The FKF announced that Sports Kenya has approved the use of Nyayo Stadium for the upcoming match between AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia with the match being scheduled for March 30, 2025, with a kick-off time of 4:00 PM at the stadium in Nairobi.

In response to this development, AFC Leopards announced on March 22 that their AGM, initially planned for March 30, would be moved to March 29.

The club’s statement read: “The club’s Annual General Meeting that was scheduled to be held on Sunday 30th March 2025 has now been pushed back to 29th March 2025, at a venue that will be communicated later on Monday 24th March 2025 after confirmation.”

After two postponements, the first leg of the Mashemeji Derby between AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia is set to occur on Sunday, March 30, at Nyayo Stadium.

In November 2024, Nyayo Stadium was declared “not ready” to host the game, despite AFC Leopards formally requesting the venue.

In late February, a week filled with drama saw Ingwe announce various potential venues for the match—Moi International Sports Stadium – Kasarani and Nyayo—before ultimately missing out on both.

The stadium recently reopened after being closed for eight months when Kenya’s U17 women’s team defeated Uganda 3-0 in a FIFA World Cup Qualifier.

Nyayo Stadium is also expected to be one of the venues for the upcoming African Nations Championships (CHAN) in August, alongside Kasarani.
