The highly anticipated Final Draw for the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 is scheduled to take place on 27 January 2025 in Rabat. During the event, the 24 competing nations will learn their group-stage opponents as they gear up for Africa’s premier football tournament.
The draw provides national teams with insights into Morocco’s world-class match venues, training facilities, and hotel infrastructure, ensuring optimal preparation for the tournament.
Tournament Format
The 24 qualified teams will be drawn into six groups of four teams. The top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-placed teams, will progress to the round of 16.
Host Nation and Historical Context
Morocco will host the finals for the first time since 1988, a significant milestone as the country prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.
The 2025 edition marks the 35th AFCON, solidifying its status as one of the world’s oldest continental football tournaments, following South America’s Copa América (1916) and Asia’s AFC Asian Cup (1956).
