African Presidents at KICC, Nairobi for World Bank Summit

More than 10 African Heads of State and Government arrived at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi on Monday April 29, 2024 for the  World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA21) summit.

This was after the summit started on Sunday April 28 at Nairobi’s KICC with a meeting of Finance Ministers from IDA Member States.

During the meeting, the Finance Ministers discussed IDA’s policy, available financing frameworks, as well as key priority areas for development financing for African countries.

Most presidents landed in Nairobi on Sunday evening for the summit that is being hosted by the government of Kenya in conjunction with the World Bank. 

Somali’s President Sheikh mohammud, Mauritania’s Mohamed Quld and Madagascar’s Andrey Rajaolina are among leaders at KICC for the Summit. 

Others include Julius Maada Bio (President of the Republic of Sierra Leone), Dr. Lazarus Chakwera – President of the Republic of Malawi, Samia Suluhu – President of the United Republic of Tanzania, General Évariste Ndayishimiye – President of the Republic of Burundi, and Mohamed Ould Ghazouani – President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

Azali Assoumani – President of the Union of the Comoros, Faustin-Archange Touadéra – President of the Central African Republic, and Robert Beugré Mambé – Prime Minister of Republic of Côte d’Ivoire are also present.
