Kenyan entrepreneur and content creator Akothee (real name Esther Akoth) has come clean on why she broke up with her husband.
The mother of five revealed in October 2023 that she parted ways with her husband, Denis Schweizer, also known as ‘Omosh’ during their honeymoon in July 2023.
In a recent interview, she divulged details of the circumstances around their split barely weeks after their lavish wedding.
“He told me he takes meds and has bipolar. I was shocked. When he told me he had bipolar disorder, things came to mind. I thought of all the guests I had invited to my wedding. I asked him why he did not tell me prior. He said that he was afraid I was going to leave him,” she began.
Easily Irritated
This conversation apparently sprung up following multiple incidents where Omosh got easily irritated. That he would easily flare up whenever he was questioned on his whereabouts.
Akothee noted that his explanations were always unsatisfactory and shared her troubles with her best maid who initiated background investigation into the Swiss national.
“So my best maid began her investigations. She told me to hold the Swiss wedding so she could do her due diligence about the guy because my heart told me there was something,” the 43-year-old added.
The mother of five expressed regret for looking over all the red flags in Omosh which were apparently noticed even by her own children.
She admitted that her first born daughter Vesha Okello severally questioned Omosh’s actions and warned her mother about him being a liar.
“He was such a liar. So my children figured him out earlier. So Vesha told me mum, your guy is delusional. This guy is delusional. When he wanted to manipulate me, we got out of honeymoon and we came to Kenya then he went to Switzerland. That’s when things unfolded. I learnt his girlfriend committed suicide in 2019.
“When I asked him he gave excuses. That he is not the problem, the women are the problem.”
Akothee: Why I fell for Omosh
Taking to social media late last year, Akothee acknowledged that Omosh came into her life when she was going through a difficult time.
“Denis Schweizer came into my life when I was going through so much. We came from far and he gave me what I needed when I needed him, he came in when we had big fights with my family and I was written off and nobody was talking to me.“
Adding, “I needed a shoulder to lean on and by the time he said, ‘will you… I responded with a quick ‘Marry me, yes.”
“I enjoyed everything with him, including living with him. All the flight tickets he bought for me, I really do appreciate but then the relationship was not meant to be,” she said.
