Al-Nassr has voiced its displeasure after a Saudi YouTuber recreated Lionel Messi’s iconic ear-capping pose from the 2022 FIFA World Cup while sitting in front of Cristiano Ronaldo’s locker. Although the YouTuber’s stunt was intended as a light-hearted joke, it has sparked controversy, especially given the long-standing rivalry between Ronaldo and Messi.
While some fans found the pose humorous, Al-Nassr was quick to condemn the action, calling it “irresponsible.” The Saudi Pro League club, known for opening its facilities to engage with fans, emphasized that the YouTuber’s actions were disrespectful and did not align with the club’s values.
In an official statement, the club expressed disappointment:
“Al-Nassr Club has always welcomed its visitors, fans, and supporters, keeping its doors open throughout its long history. However, what occurred inside the dressing room at First Park Stadium—specifically, the irresponsible actions of an individual—is unacceptable. Such behaviour demonstrates a lack of respect for the club and its values.”

Faced with a strong backlash from both the club and fans on social media, the YouTuber issued a public apology. In a video posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), he clarified that his actions were meant to be harmless fun but acknowledged the mistake. He expressed regret for the incident and hoped to move beyond the controversy.
