Alexander Ezenagu, President William Ruto’s son-in-law and husband to Ruto’s eldest daughter, June, has achieved a significant career milestone by securing a prominent position at Strathmore University.
Ezenagu, who shared this exciting news on his LinkedIn profile on Wednesday, September 20, has a track record of professional success.
He is the founder of Sapient Consulting Group Limited, an organization with a presence in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Prior to his latest appointment, Ezenagu held the position of an assistant taxation and commercial law professor at Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar.
His academic journey began with an LLB degree from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, where he subsequently became admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He practiced law in Nigeria from 2011 to 2015.
Furthering his education, Ezenagu attended the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, where he earned an LLM in commercial law.
His expertise spans international law, trade, investment, and tax. He has engaged in consultancy work and collaborations with notable international organizations, including the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and the United Nations Development Programme.
Ezenagu’s latest role is as the inaugural director of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) Policy and Development Centre, which was recently launched at Strathmore University Business School.
This center aims to address the unique trade challenges and opportunities facing Africa by conducting cutting-edge research, knowledge dissemination, and capacity-building programs.
In addition to his directorship, Ezenagu has been appointed as a senior research fellow at Strathmore University. His enthusiasm for this new chapter in his career is palpable.

He has been invited to deliver a lecture at the esteemed Harvard Law School on Tuesday, September 26, further solidifying his reputation as a distinguished scholar with a wealth of experience spanning academia, legal practice, and research.
