Former Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter on Monday, July 1 revealed intimate details of the questions he was asked following his dramatic arrest on Sunday.
Speaking to the press after appearing at the DCI headquarters, Keter claimed that the police wanted him to explain his relationship with former President Uhuru Kenyatta and current deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua.
“When I was arrested, one of the questions that I was asked is about my relationship with former President Uhuru Kenyatta, and my relationship with the current deputy president… and issues to do with arms from Congo. Do not intimidate us into silence,” Keter, who was flanked by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and other lawyers, said.
Keter says that his arrest, and those of many other government critics, was a ploy by President William Ruto’s administration to silence them.
“We know the issue is because we have raised issued concerning many Kenyans on Finance Bill, cost of living and the many promises they made. We didn’t force them to make the promises. The problem with them is that they always lie. Even yesterday, the president lied like 100 times, inckluding a child who was shot 8 times and he was telling Kenyans he is not aware whether he is still living or not.”
