All systems go for AFC Leopards three day 60th anniversary celebrations

The AFC leopards Ingwe at 60 committee has laid out plans for celebration of the club’s sixty years which will start on Friday 22nd March and climax on Sunday 24th March 2024 at the Nyayo Staduim.

According to Ingwe at 60 committee chairman Vincent Shimoli, they will conduct a fundraising dubbed ‘Ingwe Dinner’ on Friday at a city hotel to help fine tune the gala with Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja the fundraiser’s main guest.

“We shall have Ingwe dinner at MAA Hotel on Friday 22nd March. This important function is aimed at raising funds that will assist the club,” stated Shimoli.

A friendly match pitting AFC Leopards legends against their Gor Mahia counterparts will serve as a curtain-raiser for the Sunday’s activities that also include an encounter between select AFC Leopards team and AE Ramassa, a fourth-tier Spanish side.

“For our fans, our Inter-branches tournament finals will be played at Camp Toyoyo on Saturday 23rd March. The tournament has given our fans a chance to showcase their talent in football activities.

“On the same day in the evening, we have organized Ingwe Night at Nyayo Stadium which will be an opportunity for our fans to feast and celebrate together as they dance to our local artist’s tunes.

“24th March 2024 will climax the weekend activities which will include AFC ladies playing against Kisii Queens (Shabana Ladies) while our legends AFC Leopards legends will play against Gor Mahia legends.

“AFC Leopards vs Shabana FC will feature on the same day while AFC Leopards will also play Gor Mahia FC. Our fans will also have a chance to watch AFC Leopards play against our visiting team A.E Ramassa from Spain.”

AFC Leopards boasts of 12 Kenya Premier league titles, 10 FKF Cups and five CECAFA Club Championship crowns in its 60 years of existence.

The club officially turned 60 on March 12 which club members marked by visiting the home of the founding father Mutoka in Shauri Moyo Estate, Nairobi.
