Angry Bungoma residents set police car on fire

Chaos erupted in Nzoia Bungoma county after an alleged shooting of a security guard by the Police led to furious residents setting ablaze a vehicle that is believed to be the property of the National Police Service.

According to the residents the Security who worked at the Nzoia Sugar company factory was shot as he was heading home from work at night.

The residents recount hearing a gunshot sound and heading to the scene where they found the security guard bleeding on the ground.

The officer in question was also seen patrolling the vicinity of the Factory’s compound. Upon arriving at the crime scene the residents mobilized themselves and confronted the officer.

With tensions escalating other officers came in to rescue their colleague who was in distress however the angry mob overpowered the police leaving them no choice but to scamper to safety leaving the Vehicle which was later destroyed by the fire.
