Angry Pastor Ezekiel curses officials who stopped his Kilifi crusade

National News

New Life Prayer Center and Church founder Pastor Ezekiel Odero on Saturday, October 7, cursed officials who stopped his Kilifi crusade, accusing them of misusing their authority.

This was after police canceled his five-day crusade twice in two consecutive weeks, citing security reasons.

An angry Pastor Ezekiel requested for a rope from one of the worshippers during prayers and it was handed to him as he continued to pray.

He then tied a knot on the rope, saying it represents a curse in the lives of officials who stopped his crusade in Kilifi.

“You treat the work of God like that. No. Do you see this rope here? This is a person’s life, I untied one, I fast another. It’s not right… people should respect God,” said Pastor Ezekiel.

He explained that he has gone through a lot of pain since the cancellation, lamenting that the government officials do not understand what he was going through.

Kilifi North Sub County Police Commander Kenneth Maina had noted in a letter to the church that he had received orders to cancel the crusade due to security reasons.

However Ezekiel said that it was important for all human beings irrespective of their positions in society to respect God as the creator of everything and the giver of life.

“But the one who stopped the crusade without fault and falsely accuses prominent figures, a person should respect God,” Ezekiel said.

In the first incident, the police accused the preacher of organizing the crusade without giving notice as required in law.

As a result, the preacher postponed the crusade to October 5, only to be told that it had to be canceled again due to security reasons.

“They don’t know that from yesterday until today, I’ve been in my house, and I even took a shower this morning,” Ezekiel said.

The preacher had distributed foodstuffs to worshippers and visitors who had gathered a day before the crusade.

Ezekiel wondered why the police did not stop him from distributing foodstuffs to the congregants on October 4, a day before the crusade.

This was not the first incident for Pastor Ezekiel’s crusade to be cancelled as on June 2, the authorities cancelled a joint crusade led by Pastor Ezekiel and veteran televangelist Pastor Pius Muiru.

The Crusade that set to happen in Machakos was abruptly cancelled without prior notice to the followers and the Pastor’s legal team.
