Another Nigerian actor pleads for help after Mr Ibu’s death

Barely a month after veteran Nollywood star Mr Ibu’s (real name John Okafor) death, another legend is appealing for medical funds.

Nigerian actor Amaechi Muonagor is now appealing for help to pay for a kidney transplant.

A video of him lying in bed looking emaciated sent shock waves across the continent as social media users could not fathom how such a lively man was now bedridden.

Muonagor had a bandage around his chest while he looked up, barely able to speak audibly.

Next to him was another Nigerian actor who said that the sickly man needed a kidney transplant and needs help to pay for the procedure.

“Igbo people, I greet you all,” the ill actor began, but could barely speak further.

Actor Kingsley Orji then went on to explain that the veteran was suffering from kidney-related issues.

“It has not been easy. He has been in this condition for months now. He wants to go for a kidney transplant.

“He just came back from the ICU… a couple of days ago. He was responding to treatment but not very well,” Orji elaborated.

Apparently, Muonagor could not keep up with hospital bills and therefore opted to return home.

“He barely talks well. Please, he needs your help,” Orji added.

This comes about three weeks after the passing of Mr Ibu who also appealed for funds to clear his hospital bills.

“As I speak to you, I am still lying down in the hospital; the medical director of this hospital said that the best solution is, in case his new idea didn’t work, the best idea is to cut off my leg,” he said weeks to his demise.

His situation attracted negative publicity shortly after it emerged that his son Daniel Okafor and adopted daughter Jasmine Chioma were arrested for allegedly hacking into his phone and stealing part of the raised funds.
