Apologise to Raila Odinga or lose Lang’ata, Jalang’o warned

An Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) supporter Isaac Otwoma has advised Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwour alias Jalang’o to apologize to Raila Odinga if he wants to retain his seat.

Otwoma explained that Lang’ata is generally an ODM stronghold and Jalang’o should fight to remain in the party.

The ODM supporter explained that Jalang’o won the Lang’ata parliamentary seat narrowly in the 2022 elections with 38,948 votes while Nixon Korir had 36,836 votes.

“Nixon Korir won the Lang’ata MP seat on a Jubilee party ticket in the 2017 elections because NASA coalition sponsored two candidates, one for ODM and one for Wiper,” Otwoma stated.

Otwoma emphasized that Lang’ata was still Raila Odinga’s stronghold and therefore he could determine who would win the parliamentary seat if elections were held.

He advised the Lang’ata MP to reconcile with Raila in order to eliminate the issue of betrayal among voters who initially voted for him.

“Winning the Langata Parliamentary seat may pose significant challenges for you due to a sense of betrayal among the voters who initially supported you,” he pointed out.

On the other hand, Otwoma advised Jalang’o to pursue an independent candidacy but engage in a conversation with President Ruto to discourage the UDA party from contesting for that seat.

“Do not be tempted to join the UDA party, you will be rewriting your last political career in Lang’ata,” he warned.

Similar sentiments were shared by ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna who also advised the Lang’ata MP to remain in the party if he wants to retain his seat.

Sifuna said that Jalang’o would lose the Lang’ata parliamentary seat if he contested on a different party ticket.

His sentiments come after the ODM National Executive Committee (NEC) on September 6 expelled the MPs for defying party positions and gross misconduct.

Sifuna also revealed plans to notify the ODM National Delegates Council (NDC) which is the final party organ to confirm the expulsion of rebel members.
