Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu undergoes Knee Surgery

Arsenal has suffered another setback as 26-year-old defender Takehiro Tomiyasu becomes the latest player to undergo knee surgery.

The Japanese international underwent surgery on his right knee, and while his exact recovery timeline remains uncertain, reports from British media suggest he could be sidelined for the rest of the season.

Tomiyasu’s Message to Fans

Tomiyasu took to social media to share an update on his condition and rehabilitation process:

“I had surgery on my knee a few days ago, and I’ve already started rehab to return to doing what I love the most. This has been the toughest period of my career, and it continues, but I won’t give up.”

Third Arsenal Player to Undergo Surgery

Tomiyasu is now the third Arsenal player to require surgery this season, following Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz.

The 26-year-old defender joined Arsenal from Bologna in 2021 and made 30 appearances in the 2023/24 season. However, injuries have severely limited his game time, restricting him to just six minutes in the 2024/25 season a brief substitute appearance against Southampton in October.

Arsenal’s Title Challenge Continues

Despite the injury setback, Tomiyasu remains optimistic and committed to making a strong comeback. His resilience and dedication will be key during his rehabilitation process.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s next fixture will be against West Ham United this weekend in the English Premier League. The Gunners are currently second in the table, trailing league leaders Liverpool by seven points.
