Arsenal fans set off fireworks at a hotel to disrupt Man City’s preparation ahead of their EPL match with Tottenham

Suspected Arsenal fans on early Tuesday morning set off fireworks at a hotel which they believed was the same one hosting Manchester City players before they took on Tottenham in their English Premier League fixture.

Videos posted on social media have shown groups of Gunners supporters, considered to be the Ashburton Army group, letting off fireworks in the area surrounding the Marriott Hotel in Waltham Abbey. Those events played out at around 2 am, in the belief that Pep Guardiola’s squad were inside said building.

City’s delegation had opted not to stay at the targeted hotel, choosing instead to travel to London on the morning of the match. The online response was swift, with the perpetrators ridiculed for their misjudgment and the futile attempt to disrupt City’s preparations.

Should Pep Guardiola’s men win both of their remaining matches, they will be crowned as champions of England for the fourth year in a row.

The Gunners are currently one point ahead of City, although they have played one more game. Everton will travel to the Emirates Stadium on the final day of the season with Arsenal certain to still be in with a chance of bringing the prestigious trophy to the ground for the first time.

Man City will host West Ham at the same time, meaning both title challengers will be expected to secure victories.

This would be the first time any team has ever won the Premier League in four consecutive seasons. Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal team have been almost flawless since the turn of the year, losing only one league fixture – at home against Aston Villa – but still look likely to miss out on their first triumph since 2004.

Amidst the rivalry between Arsenal and City, there was an unexpected show of solidarity from the Gunners’ camp towards their North London rivals, Tottenham.

Despite the historical animosity between the two clubs, Arsenal players and fans alike expressed their support for Tottenham ahead of their clash with City, recognizing the significance of the match in determining the title race.
