Arsenal stunned by 2-2 draw with 10-man Fulham

Arsenal were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to 10-man Fulham, who scored a late goal to earn a priceless point at the Emirates and prevent Mikel Arteta’s team from temporarily claiming the top spot in the Premier League on Saturday.

Fulham’s Andreas Pereira took the lead with a goal in the very first minute, putting Arsenal on the back foot. Fulham capitalized early, scoring just 57 seconds into the match as Pereira exploited a mistake by Bukayo Saka.

Arsenal fought back during the second half. The pressure seemed to motivate Saka, who created numerous chances throughout the first half.

He redeemed himself by confidently converting a penalty kick amidst pouring rain after 70 minutes. In a span of just two minutes, Saka and Eddie Nketiah scored two goals, swinging the momentum in Arsenal’s favour.

Arsenal completed their comeback when, two minutes later, Fabio Vieira’s cross found Eddie Nketiah, who capitalized on the opportunity.

Fulham’s Bassey’s foul on Nketiah led to his sending off, reducing Fulham to 10 players. However, Fulham managed to equalize in the 87th minute when Palhinha’s skillful half-volley from a corner found the net.

Fulham’s challenges grew as Calvin Bassey received a second yellow card in the 83rd minute, forcing them to play with 10 players. Despite this setback, Fulham managed to level the playing field.

Joao Palhinha’s goal from a corner kick in the 87th minute secured a draw for his team. Ultimately, the match concluded in a thrilling 2-2 draw, highlighting the resilience of both teams and providing an exciting display of soccer action.

As a result of the draw, Arsenal stands in second place with seven points. They are trailing behind their north London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, with only goal difference setting them apart.
