Makadara MP George Aladwa has given a huge hint on the position of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party when it comes to the 2027 Presidential Election.
Speaking on Monday, December 16 during the commissioning of LPG infrastructure at Jamhuri High School in Nairobi, MP Aladwa said that the ODM Party was in full support of President William Ruto’s broad-based government.
During his speech at the event presided over by President Ruto, Aladwa — who is also the ODM Nairobi Chairman — started by thanking the government, through the Energy Ministry, for picking Nairobi County as the ideal county to start the noble project.
“Tunataka kushukuru Ministry ya Energy kwa kutupatia LPG infrastructure,” Aldwa started his short speech, amid cheers from Jamhuri High School students.
He went further to pledge allegiance to the broad-based government, which President Ruto says consists of various political affiliations geared towards uniting Kenyans for the sake of the unity and transformation.
This is where he made the huge revelation.
“Kwa ufupi your excellency sisi tunaku support 100%, na broad-based gov’t tuko hapo. Nairobi tuko nyuma yako. Sisi Nairobi hatuna ukabila, ukabila yetu ni Kenya, na ni Kenya na ni Kenya. Kwa maendeleo na siasa tuko na wewe, na tutaku support. Uko na Waziri wetu Joho, uko na Wandayi, sisi kama ODM tuna kuspport na tutakuwa hapo 2027 nyuma yako.”

The ODM Party — formed during the 2005 Kenyan constitutional referendum campaign — has fielded a presidential candidate in Raila Odinga in 2007, 2013, 2017 and 2022 General Elections.
In all those occasions, Raila has failed to secure the presidency. And just like the 2018 handshake, a political truce between then-President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila, the former Prime Minister has closed ranks with President Ruto, and have now formed a broad-based government, with four members of the ODM Party picked as Cabinet Secretaries.
Raila himself is eying the African Union Commission (AUC) Chairmanship, with pundits insinuating that if he is successful in this venture, then ODM is likely to throw its weight behind President Ruto’s re-election bid.
