Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri has warned political leaders within the government to avoid what he describes as the slippery road of playing the tribal alienation card, terming it as dangerous and retrogressive.
Speaking in Likii village in his Laikipia East constituency, MP Kiunjuri said that all tribes in the country must be respected and given fair treatment.
The legislator slammed a section of MPs whose recent sentiments insinuate a possibility of balkanizing Mt. Kenya region.
His remarks come at a time when political leaders are mobilising their support based on tribe, ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Meanwhile, Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua has closed ranks with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and agreed to work together in the run up to the 2027 Presidential Election.
Speaking on Saturday, January 25 after hosting Gachagua and his delegates at her home in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County, Karua said that a journey of uniting and liberating Kenyans had just started.
Gachagua, on his part, was upbeat about the new alliance, praising Karua for what he says is “her great history of liberation.”
