Barcelona owes Leeds, Man City & Bayern over 200 million euros in transfer fees

FC Barcelona’s money troubles seem to be an unending disaster for the Spanish club with reports of over 200 millions euros in debt in transfer fees.

The Catalan club owes more than $212 million in transfer fees to various clubs such as Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Leeds United. 

This comes at the back of other money related problem like La Liga cutting the clubs spending limit from 649 million euros ($697 million) to 270 million euros ($290 million).

The club is also staring at a protentional ban for being embroiled in a bribery case within the Spanish courts, potentially leading to their expulsion from the world of football.

In 2021 the club found its self having to let go of one of its top talent Lionel Messi for lack of a new contract, But the seem to continued to sign big recruits despite the obvious money troubles.

They seem to have found a work around the financial troubles to secure transfer deals. The Catalans  are due to shell out just under €90m (£78m/$95m) over the course of the next 12 months, but will still have a further €120m (£104m/$127m) to pay out to Leeds, City, Bayern and Sevilla beyond that point.

Barcelona are still in the market looking for a defensive midfielder and two fullbacks, this might be hard fete to achieve given spending limit imposed on them by La Liga.
