Turkish football giants Besiktas have terminated the contract of their player Emirhan Delibas after his profile was discovered on a dating application and widely circulated.
Delibas who rose through the academy ranks to make two senior appearances has distanced himself from the profile with Besiktas confirming in a statement that they have mutually agreed to part ways.
“We have mutually agreed to part ways with professional football player Emirhan Delibas. We wish him success in his future endeavors,” the club statement reads in part.
While the club did not officially confirm the reason behind the decision, it is believed to be linked to the 21-year-old’s alleged profile on the dating app Bumble.
The profile featured a photo of Delibas in Besiktas’ training kit holding a drink, alongside his name and age, incorrectly stated as 24.

“I refute the accusations made by fake accounts and want to emphasize my unwavering commitment to my team. Besiktas is a profound responsibility for me, and your support has always been my greatest motivation,” Delibas has distanced himself from the profile in a statement on Instagram.
