Betty Kyallo sues Edgar Obare: “I have been too tolerant am done”

Media personality, Betty Kyallo, known for her illustrious 13-year news anchoring career, is taking a firm stand against defamation.

On July 8, 2024, Betty’s legal team sternly warned popular blogger Edgar Obare.

Accusing him of spreading false and damaging information about her on his Instagram page.

In a strongly worded letter, Betty’s legal representatives highlighted the gravity of Edgar’s actions.

“On July 7, 2024, you published a sensational post on your blog

Additionally featuring our client’s photograph with false and defamatory captions,” the letter stated.

They emphasized that the defamatory post had gone viral.

Remaining accessible across various social media platforms and reaching Edgar’s 182,000 followers, with its circulation growing daily.

The legal team described the post as filled with baseless allegations, insinuations, and innuendos aimed at tarnishing Betty’s reputation.

“The post continues to spread falsehoods about our client, causing significant harm,” they asserted.

Betty Kyallo, a beloved figure in Kenyan media, has demanded an unconditional retraction of the defamatory post from all of Edgar’s social media accounts.

Betty wants a public apology

Additionally, she insists on a sincere and prominently displayed apology. “

A full, unreserved, and unconditional retraction must be posted on the same blog and Instagram page, with terms approved by us,”

Betty’s legal team insisted. They further demanded that the apology be as prominent as the original defamatory post to mitigate the damage caused by Edgar’s actions.

In a statement on her Instagram page, Betty revealed her frustration and determination to seek justice.

“I’ve decided to take legal action against those who defame me and my brand without any factual basis.

They do this for clicks, likes, and views, but it’s extremely detrimental to the hard work I’ve put in over the years,” Betty declared.

She emphasized the need for consequences for such malicious behaviour, stating, “I will no longer tolerate spiteful, evil-intentioned, fake, and false stories against me.”
