Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother, has addressed recent headlines linking her son-in-law, Jay-Z, to a shocking civil lawsuit alleging rape.
Following the accusations, which Jay-Z (born Shawn Carter) has vehemently denied, Knowles’ verified Instagram account briefly “liked” a post detailing the claims.
The post highlighted allegations that Carter and Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulted a 13-year-old girl at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000.
Knowles later clarified the situation, claiming her account had been hacked.
In a Instagram post, she shared,
“No weapon formed against my family shall prosper,” adding, “As you all know, I do not play about my family.
If you see something uncharacteristic of me, just know it’s not me.”
The allegations, which surfaced in an amended lawsuit filed on December 8, named Carter alongside Combs, who is already facing charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
Jane Doe, the plaintiff, claims the assault occurred after she was invited to an afterparty and served a drugged drink. The lawsuit also mentions an unnamed female celebrity who allegedly witnessed the incident.
Carter, 55, has categorically denied the accusations. In a detailed statement on Roc Nation’s social media, he described the claims as “heinous” and a “blackmail attempt.”
He criticized the plaintiff’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, for allegedly exploiting the situation for financial gain.
The rapper also expressed deep concern for his family, particularly his daughter, Blue Ivy, 12.
“My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I will have to explain these cruel headlines to our children,” he wrote.
He emphasized his roots, saying, “I’m not from your world. I’m a young man who made it out of Brooklyn. We protect children; we don’t play these games.”
Carter challenged the accuser to file criminal charges rather than a civil suit, stating,
“Whoever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away.”
While Combs has pleaded not guilty to separate charges and denied all allegations, the lawsuit’s revelations have thrust both men into a harsh spotlight.
Despite the gravity of the claims, Jay-Z remains steadfast in his defense, reiterating his commitment to protecting his family and rejecting what he perceives as an attempt to exploit his fame.
