TikTok has unveiled its official Top 50 Charts in collaboration with Billboard, heralding a captivating new weekly chart that tracks the most electrifying songs on the platform in the United States.
The TikTok Billboard Top 50 emerges as the very first chart dedicated to monitoring the musical phenomena unfolding on this social media powerhouse.
Accessible to all TikTok users in the U.S. and on Billboard.com, this chart captures the essence of music’s digital reign.
Taking the coveted No. 1 position on the inaugural chart is the sensational Sexyy Red with the enchanting anthem, “SkeeYee.”
The chart’s rankings are determined by factors such as the creations inspired by the music, video views, and user engagement on TikTok within the United States.
Every Thursday, Billboard will unveil the verified list of the hottest songs on TikTok, guided by the pulse of music discovery and the heartbeat of audience engagement on the platform.
To unearth the TikTok Billboard Top 50 each week, users need only venture to any sound detail page and tap the top right button to unveil the treasure trove of chart-toppers.
The chart, released every Thursday, made its dazzling debut last week. The inaugural champion, Sexyy Red, expressed delight, saying, “I am so excited that so many of my songs are charting on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 chart.
I always knew I would be a No. 1 type of artist, so I want to thank all my fans on TikTok for running my music up! I’m just being me on TikTok, and people love it.”
Completing the triumphant trio in the first-ever Top Three are Doja Cat, claiming the #2 spot with “Paint The Town Red,” and Taylor Swift at #3 with “august.”
Sexyy Red maintains a firm foothold on the overall chart, with three more charting hits: “Looking For The Hoes (Ain’t My Fault)” at #19, “Face Down” (a collaborative effort with MCVERTT and Ferg) at #27, and “Mad At Me” at #50.
In addition, to its presence on the Billboard website, the chart can be accessed directly on TikTok. Users can locate it by tapping the round icon in the bottom corner of the app and navigating to the ‘Music Charts’ tab in the top right.
Celebrating the chart’s launch, Ole Obermann, TikTok’s global head of music business development, remarked, “TikTok is already the world’s most powerful platform for music discovery and promotion, and each week our passionate community of music fans drives songs onto the Billboard charts.
Therefore, it made perfect sense to partner with Billboard to create the TikTok Billboard Top 50 chart. The chart gives a clear picture of the music that is being listened to on TikTok, and consequently starting to trend on DSPs and other services.”
Billboard President Mike Van added, “We are thrilled to partner on the first Billboard chart on TikTok. At Billboard, we are constantly evolving our charts to reflect how fans engage with music and connect them more deeply with the artists they love. We see a clear opportunity to recognize the way music discovery on TikTok is shaping popular culture and are proud to offer this tool to the industry, while offering brands a new way to engage with music fans at scale. You’re not [#1] until you’re [#1] on Billboard.”
