Billions received by Kenya’s top political parties led by ODM, Jubilee, TNA and UDA

The Registrar of Political Parties has released statistics showing how different political parties were receiving funds from the political parties fund since 2014.

In 2013/2014, ODM received Ksh78 million, while The National Alliace (TNA) and United Republican Party (URP) received Ksh88.8 million and Ksh28 million respectively.

Additionally, ODM received Ksh136.9 million from the political parties fund in the financial year 2014/2015. At that time TNA got Ksh155.8 million while URP received Ksh49.1 million.

For the year 2015/2016, ODM was given Ksh139.6 million, while TNA got Ksh158.9 million while URP got Ksh50.2 million.

ODM received Ksh131.3 million in 2016/2017, as TNA got Ksh149.3 million while URP received Ksh47.1 million. At that time, the Wiper Democratic Movement -Kenya party was given 24.1 million.

In 2017/2018, ODM was given Ksh112.2 million, while Jubilee party received Ksh240.3 million. 

This was after former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s TNA party merged with deputy president William Ruto’s URP to form Jubilee party before the 2017 general elections.

For the 2018/2019 financial year, ODM received Ksh202.9 million while Jubilee party got Ksh434.6 million.

In 2019/2020, ODM received Ksh263.4 million while Jubilee party received Ksh564.1 million.

In 2020/2021Jubilee party was given Ksh514.9 million while ODM got Ksh240.4 million.

For 2021/2022, Jubilee Party received Ksh1.0 billion while ODM got Ksh473.6 million.

However in 2020/2021, the court awarded ODM Ksh200 million and in 2021/2022 the court awarded ODM Ksh900 million.

In 2022/2023, ODM was given Ksh184.7 million, as Jubilee party received Ksh81 million while United Democratic Alliance (UDA) got Ksh345.8 million.

This was after William Ruto (who was deputy president before the 2022 elections) quitted Jubilee party and formed UDA that won most seats in the 2022 general elections.

Since 2014, ODM has received the highest amount of money because it has been active up to date.
