Gerald Karicha Mwangi, the father of Billy Mwangi broke down in court on Tuesday December 31, 2024 as he asked about the whereabouts of his son who was abducted.
Billy, who was abducted on Saturday December 21, is one of the six victims of recent abductions linked to security agencies in the country.
The court at Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi was told on Tuesday that Billy, a 24-year-old college student, was abducted by four hooded men at a barber shop in Embu town.
“The four men mishandled my son and threw him in the car. I have no idea where he is, his phone went off immediately and we haven’t reached him since,” Billy’s father told the court.
“I have come all the way from Embu expecting to see my son in court but he is not here. My wife has collapsed so many times due to high blood pressure since our son disappeared. I can’t see my son… I thought he was here! Where is my son? Where have they taken him?” he added as he broke down in tears.
This comes a day after the parents of Billy Mwangi on Monday December 30, 2024 issued a heartfelt apology to President William Ruto over their son’s controversial online activity.
Billy Mwangi gained attention for his posts on X (formerly Twitter), which included AI-generated images of the President portrayed in a negative light.
In an emotional video shared by one of Billy’s close friends, his parents, Gerald Karicha and Regina Wairimu, expressed regret over their son’s actions.
“We are very sorry to the offended parties over our son’s portrayal of the President in a negative way through the images seen on social media,” the parents said.
