Bitok, Nyeraberi’s Kenya Volleyball Federation election results challenged.

Three petitioners have filed an appeal with the Sports Dispute Tribunal to challenge the results of the elections of the Kenya volleyball federation, which saw Charles Nyaberi elected president, with Kenya National women’s volleyball team assistant coach Paul Bitok as his deputy.

The petitioners namely Robson Akoth, Joseph Irungu and David Kilundu have argued that two non-delegates who were not eligible to vote were allowed to participate in the elections which were conducted on Saturday 19 August at the Nyayo National Stadium.

In the Certificate of urgency submitted to the tribunal, the petitioner also indicated that voting was permitted for delegates from five county branches who weren’t registered with the sports registrar.

The developments come amidst Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamb’s frustrations in streamlining the governance structure in some of the sports federations in the country.

During his grilling at the National assembly on Wednesday CS Namwamba called on legislators to assist his ministry in clamping down on deviant federations officials in the country.

CS Ababu Namwamba appeared before the National Assembly for grilling.

SDT deputy chairperson Elynah Sifuna-Shiveka has said the case is set for mention on Tuesday next week, a hearing that will be conducted online via Microsoft Teams.

“Upon perusal of the petition under certificate of urgency and notice of motion, and all other documents as filed by Jausiku & Company advocates dated 21st August 2023, the Tribunal hereby directs, and orders that the matter be certified as urgent,”
