In a recent interview, Denzel Washington—one of Hollywood’s most esteemed actors—revealed that he’ll be appearing in Black Panther 3.
With Ryan Coogler set to write Washington’s role, this news brings excitement and nostalgia, especially since the Black Panther franchise has such a powerful history, both on and off screen.
Washington, a two-time Academy Award winner, stated, “I have a part in the upcoming Black Panther that Ryan Coogler is writing for me.”
He also shared plans for his next projects: after filming Othello, he’ll portray the title role in King Lear, and then plans to retire.
Interestingly, Denzel Washington’s connection to Black Panther goes beyond the screen. Chadwick Boseman, the beloved actor who portrayed T’Challa, revealed before his passing that Washington once covered his acting school tuition.
Reflecting on this, Boseman said, “Black Panther wouldn’t exist without Denzel Washington.”
Although Marvel Studios is yet to formally confirm Black Panther 3, Washington’s involvement would represent an incredible tribute to Boseman’s legacy, showcasing how one artist’s generosity can impact an entire generation.
Washington’s role in Black Panther 3 may be his first entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but his influence has been there since the beginning, weaving through the storylines and journeys of actors like Boseman.
With this new chapter, audiences can anticipate a heartfelt blend of action, legacy, and reverence for the icons who continue to inspire, even after their time.
Washington will also star the upcoming Gladiator II film, which is set to premiere in theatres November 22nd.
